OPM Director Katherine Archuleta Resigns After Federal Data Breach Affects 25 Million Americans

Katherine Archuleta, the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, announced her resignation on Friday, after 8% of American citizens had their personal information compromised in two OPM breaches during her tenure as director. Archuleta resigned less than 24 hours after the OPM revealed that 21.5 million Americans had been compromised in a second breach to sensitive background check forms, in addition to the 4.2 million Americans compromised in the OPM’s first breach.
