Why This Coffee Company is Giving Away 100% of Its Profits
Cozzee, an Atlanta-based startup, is giving away its profits. Selling ethically sourced coffee beans, the company is aligning coffee with causes. Hence, the name: ‘cozzee’ - a hybrid of the two words.
I ask founder and CEO of Cozzee, Garry Williams, about this business model which prizes social impact over profiteering.
Esha Chhabra: How did you get the idea for Cozzee?
Garry Williams: I was doing marketing and strategy consulting before this. In fact, the idea for Cozzee originally came about in 2012 after doing some consulting work for a non-profit and seeing their struggle to raise donations.
We spent about 3 years testing and refining the model prior to launching in May of 2015.
