Before A Fatal Drone Accident, The FAA Must Finalize Regulations

Imagine waking up to the news of a major and fatal commercial airline incident caused by a drone. I have been predicting that we will experience this at some point over the next year. Major incidents have already occurred that have been disruptive, but not fatal, including a drone crashing on the lawn of the White House (the Washington, D.C. region has a ban in place on almost all aviation), the grounding of aerial fire fighters in Southern California during the most recent forest fires and crashes at major sports events including at the U.S. Open in New York City.
