He Left His Corporate Career And Launched A $2.5M, One-Person Business
When police departments need patrol bikes or hospitals need gear to protect employees from contact with potentially infectious blood, they often turn to Jonathan Johnson. Johnson, 55, a former corporate salesman, has built a profitable business that he says generated $2.5 million in revenue last year selling such items through two sites he runs, DirectGovSource.com and PPEKits.com. Although he has large clients such as the City of Detroit, he runs the ultra-lean business from the comfort of his home in Chico, Calif., a college town he loves.
